The village of Bistrilitsa is situated at 17 km to the north from Berkovitsa town.
At about 3 km you will find the largest dam in Bulgaria – Ogosta, with a swimming pool and a discotheque. The rivers Zlatitsa, Ogosta, Barziya, and micro dams Balova shuma and Gaganitza are in the very close vicinity. Those are places for fishing, water sports and rest in the open. You can collect mushrooms and herbs in the meadows and woods. You can also go bird- and game-watching.
Lopushna Monastery is close to Bistrilitsa. It is famous for its architecture and stone plastics. The church has a wooden carved iconostasis and icons painted in 1863 by famous Bulgarian artists of the Samokov School.
Klisura Monastery is situated in the skirts of Todorini Kukli peak, near the the Varshets spa. This Monastery was re-built in 1900 in the traditions of the Renaissance.
The town of Chiprovtsi, a famous carpet center and the Chiprovtsi Monastery are within 25 km.
There are several picturesque mountain villages in the nearabouts. The springs of Ogosta river are in the mountain, in virgin woods. The famous Belogradchik rocks and fortress are within 65 km, and you can also take a trip to the picturesque Magura cave with ancient stone paintings.
At 75 km from Bistrilitsa you will find the Baba Vida Towers, a fortress by Danube river in the town of Vidin.
